Patient advocacy

BHI focuses on the goal that patients must come first. Often groups think of Healthcare as an industry that we tend to forget about Healthcare as a purpose, we at BHI put patient advocacy as a number 1 priority with the primary purpose of assisting them towards their healthcare goals.

Whether it be assisting them in learning about new healthcare technologies, helping them connect with an appropriate treatment provider, better understand patient rights, matters of privacy, confidentiality or informed consent, patient representation, awareness building, support and education of patients; BHI is focused on increasing their patient advocacy efforts on a wide-spread scale.

Often challenges occur while choosing an appropriate treatment provider. The entire patient/treatment lifecycle can be a daunting task, especially when already facing the many challenges associated with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or any behavioral health needs. Addiction treatment is health care and must be chosen as such. There are knowable indicators of quality in addiction treatment, which BHI can help you better understand so that you can make a better informed decision towards your care. Areas to look at include descriptions of evidence-based practices, professionally credentialed staff, and accreditation. Transparency of treatment center information is essential. The deeper you look, the more useful information you should find including location, years of operations, outcomes data (but not “guarantees”), depth of clinical information, A treatment program should pledge compliance and accountability to a Code of Ethics.

If you are seeking treatment for yourself or a loved one, you are not alone. The number of people suffering from addiction in America is astounding. If you need help making an informed decision, feel free to connect with us!
